Extinguisher House is a Melbourne-based fire safety specialist delivering quality fire extinguishers and fire suppression equipment to homes and businesses across Australia. We believe everyone deserves reliable, affordable fire protection — backed by genuine expert advice, not guesswork. As a locally-owned Australian business, we take pride in a personal approach to fire safety. Whether you’re a homeowner protecting your family, a business ensuring compliance, or a contractor sourcing for multiple sites, we’re here to help. We’re also specialists in lithium battery fire suppression — a rapidly growing area of concern as e-bikes, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems become part of everyday Australian life.
What We Do
We supply a comprehensive range of AS/NZS 1841 certified fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and specialist suppression equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Our range covers dry chemical ABE, COu2082, wet chemical, foam, and water extinguishers — plus dedicated lithium battery suppression systems for e-bikes and energy storage systems.
For most Australian homes, a 2.5kg or 4.5kg ABE dry chemical extinguisher is the recommended minimum — it covers Class A (wood, paper, fabric), Class B (flammable liquids), and Class E (electrical) fires. For the kitchen, also add a 1L or 2L wet chemical extinguisher rated for Class F cooking oil fires. Not sure what you need? Contact us and we’ll help you choose the right protection for your situation.
Yes — we deliver fire safety equipment to all states and territories across Australia. We’re based in Melbourne but ship nationwide. Delivery timeframes vary by location; contact us for a shipping estimate to your area.
Under Australian Standard AS 1851, fire extinguishers require a basic inspection every 6 months and a full service (including pressure test) every 5 years. Any extinguisher that has been discharged — even partially — must be professionally serviced before it can be relied on again. We recommend using a licensed fire protection technician for all servicing.
Lithium-ion battery fires involve a process called thermal runaway — a self-sustaining chemical reaction that generates extreme heat, toxic gases, and can reignite hours after appearing extinguished. Standard dry powder or COu2082 extinguishers are not effective on these fires. Specialist lithium battery suppression systems are required, which is why we stock dedicated products for e-bikes, electric vehicles, and energy storage applications.
